We forget that our children are not just ours, they belong to God. He gives them their individuality and loves every thing about them down to the smallest detail. Just as God loves us, flaws and all, by his grace he loves our children (and us!) even when we ourselves might not find them (or ourselves!) so loveable. It may be their independence that we fear, especially when they ask us questions and say or do things that challenge, displease or upset us. We may not "like" the things that our children say or do, but it should not be hard to tell our child that we love them even when we are unhappy with something they have said or done. I'm sure God feels the same about all of us - almost as a parent - but more. There is one thing that gives comfort to us all - as parents and as children of God, and that is knowing that we love one another, and that Jesus loves us all. We may not like ourselves, but he loves us no matter what.
Thank you Lord for the love that you give to my family, my neighbors and myself. I hope and pray that I might be a better person each day and that I will learn to love others more and more as I grow in my relationship with you. Amen.
I wish to thank our Pastor Gary Gonzales at Timberlake for today's sermon on the topic of loving one another and thinking of "Others!" as it really made me think about how undeserving I truly am. I strive to improve day to day as a commitment to all of you. With Love.
